Nylea Butler-Moore became the Artistic Director of Coro de Cámara in 2014.Since then, she has led the auditioned chamber chorus in striving for musical excellence and sharing its artistry through concerts, community outreach, and educational opportunities.She creates diverse and innovative programs that feature a wide range of musical styles, often with scripts, instruments, and multi-media to enhance Coro’s singing and provide a richness and depth that lead to memorable performances.
Nylea (pronounced “Nile,” like the river, + “la”) has worked with choirs and musicians of all ages. Through her teaching of conducting, piano, voice, and music theory, she has helped youth and college students prepare for professional music careers. She is also a published composer/arranger, writer, and music editor, and has performing, recording studio, and music theatre experience.Throughout her career, she has sung with many choruses and ensembles, touring the United States and abroad and singing in some of the great cathedrals and music halls of the world.
Butler-Moore holds a Master of Conducting degree from Scarritt Graduate School in Nashville, Tennessee; a Bachelor of Music Degree in vocal performance from the University of Tennessee; and has completed two graduate music education levels at the Kodály Center of America in Massachusetts.She was awarded scholarships and received honors from each of these institutions.
In addition to her work with Coro de Cámara, she is the Director of Music at the Unitarian Church of Los Alamos.She also enjoys spending time in nature with her partner, Kyle and two rescue dogs, Arr-Riba! and Tsela.
